Bell Provers

The Autobell® is the most advanced bell prover gas calibration system engineered to remove the measurement variables of volume indication, liquid level seal variance and binding of bell guides found in other designs. The Autobell digitally measures a displaced volume of gas over time at a constant pressure to achieve a precise flow rate. This NIST traceable primary standard calibration system includes a rotary encoder which measures displaced volume, temperature sensors, pressure sensors and software which automates the system and produces calibration data files.

Features:

  • Calibrates all principal types of flowmeters, including turbine, variable area and thermal
  • 0.2% uncertainty of indicated volume typical
  • Automatic data acquisition through PC and interface
  • Displays, prints and analyzes data in desired units of measure
  • Automatic level compensation for liquid seal volume
  • Stainless steel construction
  • Directly traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)

Electronic Description:

The FTBP comes complete with the required interface electronics, and an IBM-compatible PC Host Computer. These electronics are interfaced to the rotary encoder, temperature and pressure transmitters, and a solenoid valve to provide automatic data acquisition and low level control over the system. The Host PC allows user interaction to provide high level control of the system and to manipulate and display data.

The FTBP system is menu-driven and has been designed to provide a user-friendly environment for people who are not experienced with computers. The system is partitioned by functionality, allowing for visual and turbine meter calibrations, storage and retrieval of calibration data, tabular data reporting, and editing of calibration data.

The FTBP system has been designed to automatically acquire and display data. After the user sets the desired flowrate and commands the data to be taken, the computer will automatically record and display both the raw and calculated data.

Once the entire calibration is complete, the software offers the ability to save, edit, sort, print in tabular form, or plot the data. In addition, the ability to statistically sort the data is provided.
