Robot Welder Tip Cooling System
for the Automotive Industry

Robot Welder Tip Cooling System

Robot Welder Tips used in the automobile industry are subjected to very high temperatures. Grundfos Vortex Flowmeters are used to monitor the flow of the water used to keep the welder tips from overheating, thereby preventing damage of the welding unit and minimizing costly downtimes and scrap from faulty welds.

Economical yet accurate flow monitoring system, well suited for automated robotic applications.  Automobile Manufacturers are currently using the system to continuously monitor the welding process, improving yields and minimizing downtimes

Specifications Overview

Measuring Principle: Vortex
Sizes: ¼“ and ½“ Male/Female G
Flow ranges: 1l/min bis 400 l/min
Accuracy: +/- 1.5% FS
Temperature: 100 °C
Pressure: 16 bar maximum

Features:

  • No moving parts
  • Integrated Temp. sensor
  • Power supply 5Vdc
  • Output signal 0.5-3.5 Vdc Analog.
  • State of the art alternative to Variable Area (VA) flowmeters which have been used in the past in this application with limited success due to accuracy shortcomings and mostly because the visual output of the VA meters does not lent itself to being easily integrated into automated processes
